One thing that always took an edge off Jeralt's nerves was fishing. Just him, the open water, the fishing pole, a nice beer and the fish. Moving had been difficult but necessary. The calm unassuming town was hopefully what his daughter needed to restore her confidence in herself and give her time to figure herself out. Her upbringing hadn't entirely been conventional. He homeschooled her until her high school graduation. He sighed and watched the bobber in the water. Perhaps being left alone with his thoughts wasn't the best for getting rid of that feeling that he had failed her as a father.

It's been a while since Bruce had been able to go to the lake. He brought along some fishing gear and such. He finally just needed time to get away and to think about his daughter and his situation in the magic realm. Ever since he met Arsi things there have been perking up though some still treated him as vermin. He hoped that he could at least collect his mind while getting some fish. Maybe have time to think on how to amend his relationship with his daughter, if it wasn't too late.
As he tried to find a good spot to fish he noticed an older man sitting there fishing. Somewhat middle aged. "How are they biting today?" he asked the stranger.

Jeralt looked up, mildly surprised to see someone else. But, it was a small town. It wasn't like he could avoid his neighbors forever after all. He was bound to run into someone. He shuffled to the side a bit to allow the other man to join him. He spared a glance up from the water to look at the newcomer. A younger man, but older than his daughter.
"Fair enough," Jeralt said quietly as not to startle the fish.

Bruce gave a nod of his head. "Mind if I join you then? This is one of the best spot for fishing." Bruce had been all around the lake and it seemed that there were only a few good fishing places. He took a deep breath as he looked at the other fisherman.

"Please go ahead," Jeralt said. "Wouldn't be fair if I hogged this spot."
He scooted over to let the other man take a spot nearby to fish. He was keeping his tone quiet. The fish would spook if they were too loud. He grinned as he felt a tug on his line, once, then twice, and he reeled it in. A fish hung from the hook, fighting to free itself. But he deftly removed it before placing it into the bucket beside him. He and Byleth would have fish for dinner.
"The name's Jeralt, by the way."

Bruce gave a nod in his head and took a seat next to the man that just introduced himself as Jeralt. He took out his glasses before introducing himself and put them on. "Much obliged Jeralt. I'm Bruce." Bruce took a deep breath and swung his poll out. It was indeed a nice area. The fish also did seem to be biting that day as one little fish ended up grabbing ahold of the worm and was later pulled ashore. Bruce gave a smile. "Usually at times it can be a bit tricky to even get a bite."

"Really? I haven't had too bad of luck," Jeralt said.
He had enough for him and Byleth. But if they really wanted to eat well, he'd catch maybe a few more. It helped cut down on grocery bills and Byleth liked fish. He put bait on his line, wound up and cast his line out pretty far. Now, river fish were a different breed than he and Byleth were used to, but they all cooked up the same.
