As Jiro mucked his way through the swamp, he was thankful he'd invested in a good pair of water-proof boots. It was impossible to walk through this place without stepping in mud or puddles that looked deceivingly shallow. Very people lived here. It was mostly populated with animals or magical creatures that thrived in a warm, wet environment. Some were harmless, like frogs or lizards. Others, not so much. Jiro had heard rumors of a man-eating alligators and kelpies that would drown you in a second if you jumped on their back. Thankfully, he'd never seen the latter, and if he were honest, the alligators usually weren't too bad if they weren't hungry and you didn't intentionally piss them off. Which was why, when Jiro suddenly heard shouts and cries for help coming from not too far away, he instantly got worried. He immediately headed towards the noise. The cries had sounded young, and unless these were kids that were skilled in fighting or magic, it wasn't safe for them to be here.

David watched his step remembering the last time he had been in the swamp. He'd gotten stuck and only got out due to the help of a kind lady. "watch the puddles" he told his sister. "im really not too sure about leaving rosie alone in the human world" delilah peeped under her breath as she followed her brother. Their sister was at the house of a friend and they were supposed to be doing homework. If Arthur noticed them being gone there was hell to pay. David sighed. "last time i could not find anything. Now we are with two and--" he stopped seeing a strange creature in front of him. Delilah almost bumped into him as she stopped too getting pale. Both had no idea what the creature was but it was staring at them with deep empty looking eyes and delilah felt frozen in place. David hesitantly reached for a tree branch to defend himself and his sister with when suddenly the creature rushed towards them causing delilah to scream as she moved away. David tried to do the same only to once again be knocked down into the mud. He was not having any luck in this swamp. But that was not his biggest problem right now..

Jiro pushed his way through a couple of tree branches, finally finding the source of the noise. He was right, it was a couple of kids. The scream had come from the girl, while the boy was brandishing off what looked like a troll covered in swamp gunk. Its skin was an icky shade of green and good amount of it was covered in moss and mud. Odds were, it was probably hungry and figured the kids would be an easy meal. "Get back!" Jiro yelled, jumping in front of the boy, his right arm glowing. He waved it back and forth, hoping that maybe if he looked intimidating enough, the troll would get spooked and run.

David held his hands in from of him in a protective manner and was sure he was gone for. There was no way he could fight off this creature! Suddenly someone came to help them. The boy looked up as the man got in front of him his arm glowing. David was at a loss of words. He quickly moved backwards and tried to get on his feet again.
On the other side there was delilah looking at the whole ordeal with wide eyes as she was terrified. The idea of losing her brother was one that she rather not have. She however was frozen in fear and could not move a muscle.
David looked around him grabbing a stick as he moved more towards delilah. If this monster was going to attack her or the man who helped them he wanted to be able to help!

The girl stood where she was, frozen in fear, but the boy still brandished his stick as if it were a sword. The troll roared though, obviously moving to attack. Jiro jumped towards it though, trying to stay between it and the boy. The kid was brave, but the last thing Jiro wanted was him getting smacked around. He swiped at the troll a couple of times, but it was surprisingly nimble for its size. Roaring again, swiping a claw towards Jiro. He managed to block it, but it caught him off guard enough for the troll to charge dangerously close. His hands reached up automatically and they locked with the troll's, both of them trying to push the other off balance. Jiro gritted his teeth, his feet starting to slide backwards against the mud. He couldn't win against this thing with brute strength alone. He needed to distract it so he could deal the finishing blow. Realizing the boy was still there, he cried "Aim for its eyes! Blind it!"

David tried to follow what was going on but both the troll and the man moved to fast for him to make mental notes on the moves. He jumped a bit as the troll got closer to him. Luckily the man was fast and held the creature back.
Asking for help came as a surprise as the boy panicked a little as he looked at his stick. Would it be a low blow to poke the creatures eye out?! Oh who cared! It had attacked them! David did his best as he tried to follow the mans instruction making the troll roar in frustration as it was blinded for the moment and most likely in pain from being poked at.
David took the time to quickly grab delilahs hand and pull her behind him as he held the stick up still.

For a second, Jiro wondered if the kid was going to go through with it or if it was too scared. But he finally moved and poked the troll's eyes. He roared in pain, his hands pulling from Jiro's as he stumbled around. Jiro finally saw this as an opportunity. He landed one well-aimed punch to the troll's chin, then a second, then a kick in the chest. The troll staggered for a moment before losing its balance and falling into the swampy water. Jiro watched for a second, waiting to see what it would do. It stayed below the water though, and Jiro saw a vaguely-lumpy shape moving below the surface. No doubt the troll was going to swim away to sulk and nurse his wounds. Jiro breathed a sigh of relief before turning back to the boy and girl. "You kids okay?" he asked.

Seeing the man fight off the troll delilah was shivering in her shoes as she stared at the spot the troll went underwater. David gave his sister a worried look as he was still holding her close to him even though he was once again covered in mud. How in the world was he going to explain that once again to his uncle.
Looking up when the man asked if they were okay David nodded. " yes..!" he spoke quickly. " But we have you to thank for that..! So .. Thank you..!" he stumbled over his words still a bit shaken. He had heard many stories from his parents but never had to act like a hero would himself. " Thank you..!" he repeated. Delilah who was still shaken up just looked up to the man and nodded in agreement. "y-yes.. thank you..!" she added. "Will.. Will he come back?" she asked looking at the water in a worried way.

It looked like nobody was majorly hurt, so that was good. Jiro always considered it an accomplishment when he and anyone else involved could get through an adventure unscathed. "I doubt it. He's probably gotten his butt kicked enough today," he said. "Still, we should probably head to civilization. He won't like places where it's noisy and full of people that could take him on." If any monster from the swamp tried to wander into a town, it would be met with a quite a lot of warriors and magic users who could stop it in its tracks.
