Murmuring under his breath, young david made his way through the swamp, his shoes sticking to the mud. The air was humid and the smell of the swamp was not the best thing he smelled in a while. In all honesty David had no idea where he was going. If he tried he would be able to find his way back sure, but he had never gone this deep into the forest before.
"Gah..!" as he fell into the mud he tried to catch himself but it was no use. "uuugh.." he groaned as he looked up. Why did he pick the swamp. He did not even know what he wanted to find. What he was looking for. Why couldn't he have stopped at the library.
As he tried to get up he felt how the mud was sort of sucking him back into the ground. A bit of panic started to boil in his stomach as he tried to move but was sucked in even more. He gasped looking around him. "HELLO?!" he yelled. He did not know if this was the smartest move but could only wish a good meaning person was around somewhere. "CAN ANYONE HEAR ME!?"

Arsinoe had finished her business in Blackpool and was on her way home. She patted her horse, a Boulonnais Horse named Veritas, on the neck as she guided him carefully through the swamp. While it wasn't the best way back to her home in Aberdeen, it was the quickest. The young Truth Witch was anxious to get home and talk to the queen about Rias's actions against Bruce.
As she turned a corner, Veritas perked his ears at the sounds of someone calling for help. With a nudge to the left Arsinoe expertly guided the horse toward the young boy who was stuck. "Struggling only makes it worse." She said as she dismounted. "Just hold tight while I find something to help you."

Feeling his knees sink further into the mud a lot of thoughts were going through his mind. What if he died here? What if he died and he left delilah and rosie all alone with that horrible man they called their uncle. How would they react if he did not come home. They would never know what exactly happened to their parents at all.
Trying to stop his panicking he suddenly looked up as he heard a voice telling him to stop the struggle. He moved his gaze towards the voice seeing a young woman with long black hair. He slowly nodded. " o-okay.." he said.

As Arsinoe looked around for a branch that would work for pulling the young boy out, she spoke in a claiming voice. "My name's Arsinoe, though some people call me by my middle name, Lyra. Sometimes people call me Ari." She kept talking in a soothing voice, in order to distract the boy from his situation. "What's your name?"
After dismissing a few branches for either being too short or not being alive enough to hold weight, she found a branch a couple of yards away from where she had come from. Moving quickly and carefully, she took the branch to Veritas so she could get to her saddlebag. Reaching into the bag she pulled out a rope, tied one end to the branch and the other to a tree. Edging toward the boy, she tossed the branch near him. "Grab hold and try to climb out. If that doesn't work I'll tie the rope to Veritas and we can pull you out, alright?"

David looked at the woman as she spoke. His heart was pounding in his chest. Why did he have to pick the stupid forest..?! He wanted to speak. His parents had always taught him how to be polite. A simple 'nice to meet you miss' would already do but the boy was at a loss of words. Instead he just nodded. When she asked him what his name was he managed to get it over his lips. "David.. Thank you.." he mumbled.
Seeing the branch he remembered the stories and movies about quicksand. Was this like that? "okay..! Ill try..!" he said as he tried to hold on to the branch while pulling his body up. Slowly he managed to work himself up out of the mud. Once he had he was exhausted. He looked at the mud. He could have been stick there for so much longer if not for the kind lady." thank you miss.. I.. I don't know how i can thank you..!"

Arsinoe gave a sigh of relief when David managed to pull himself out of the mud. She hadn't been sure if Veritas would have cooperated. The horse did fine with traveling but any type of manual labor, he didn't like doing. "Just try and be a little more careful around the swamp David. That's all the thanks I need." She said with a smile.
Heading back to Veritas, and her saddlebag she grabbed her cloak. "Here you can use this to get most of the mud off." She told him offering the red and white cloak to the boy.

David inwardly groaned as he looked away. " I did not meant to get this far into the forrest.." he mumbled as he stared at the mud he had been stuck in before. "but I'll try thank you" he said as he looked back at the blackhaired woman and her horse. He was not sure if he had ever seen a horse in real life before. He had read about them and seen pictures but he was not really an outdoorsy type. Well, not after his parents died anyways.
As the woman got to her horse to get the cloak he frowned a little. "wait but, thats yours and it might get dirty" he protested. The last thing he wanted to do was get the womans things dirty after she helped him get out of that mud. God he knew for sure arthur would notice this. He would be in trouble when he got home.

Veritas nickered quietly as Arsinoe stroked his nose. She could tell he was anxious to get back home. "We'll get going soon Veri, I promise." She murmured to him. She tilted her head slightly as the thought occurred to her that maybe she could offer the boy a ride. She'd hate to just leave him in the forest, alone.
She turned to give David a reassuring smile. "Really, it's fine." She said offering him the cloak again. "I can clean it later. Besides, I don't have a towel so we need to make do with what we have." Having said that, she knelt down and wrapped the cloak around him. "Where were you headed? Veritas and I can take you to the nearest town. If you want."

David was still thinking about the offer. He really did not want to cause the woman any more trouble.
Before he knew it however he felt how the cloak was wrapped around him making him snap out of his thoughts. "uh.. Oh.. Thank you.. Again" he mumbled as a faunt blush appeared as he was a bit embarrassed from being so out of it. He could not deny it was nice of her. Yet he was not really used to this type of kindness.
"I uhm.. I was not really headed anywhere" he said softly. "I.. Uhm.. I wanted to.." how could he tell her this without looking like a fool. I wanted to find out more about where my parents could have died. That was insane wasn't it? "I wanted to search for some information.. Yeah uhm.. Without knowing where i was headed. I know that's pretty stupid.." he said.

Arsinoe raised one eyebrow, skeptical that David wasn't heading anywhere, she didn't say anything though. In situations like this, it was best to let people say what they felt comfortable with when they were comfortable. When David said that he was looking for information she asked, "Do you want me to take you to the library?"
Veritas stamped his foot in frustration, the library was back the way they had come from. Arsinoe had been looking forward to going back home, but she couldn't just leave the young boy in the swamp. Especially since it seemed like David was originally from the outside world. "It wouldn't be a problem." She said petting her horse's neck.

David looked up. Normally he would have loved going to libraries, however this time he did not think he would find what he was looking for in any book.
The boy sighed as he shook his head. "No I was looking for information... About soneone who went missing" that was.. A half truth, well sort of a small lie. His parents had gone missing but they were not missing currently. They were found.
He jumped a bit at the sudden movement of the horse. Wow that must not be a good look for him. "a-are you sure miss..? I think the horse disagrees"

"He's a little cranky," Arsinoe explained. "He misses his stable." She said stroking Veritas's neck. She wrinkled her nose as she thought of the best place to take David to help with his problem. If what he was looking for was information on a missing person, the library wouldn't be very helpful. "Maybe the census records? No that wouldn't help." She murmured to herself.
"I think, maybe we should just go into town and you can maybe ask around." She decided after a few seconds of deliberation. "At the very least it will get you out of the swamp." She said. "Does that work for you?" She asked.

David frowned a bit looking at his muddy shoes. "Im.. not sure" he admitted. "I don't really want the word spreading that I am looking for someone." He explained. "So.. Just telling people might cause rumors to spread." he thought out loud. " I just.. I wanted to see if I could find clues.. Maybe recreate what could have happened in my mind..! you know like detectives do..!" he said now looking up at the lady.
He then realised he had been sort of said too much. " Oh.. But .. Yeah I think getting back to town might help.. then I at least know where to go to get.. Home i guess." The briarwood mansion did not feel like home at all but it was the best next thing.

As David spoke, Arsinoe's eyebrows furrowed in curiosity, but she didn't say anything. She just let him talk. After all, it wasn't her business. "Well, if you change your mind, I'll be happy to offer whatever assistance I can." She said with a friendly smile.
Once David had come to a decision, she smiled. "Great Let's get you back to civilization." As she turned back to Veritas a thought occurred to her. "Have you ever ridden a horse before? If not it's fine you'll just have to be in front of me."
