Mattimeo knew he should probably leave off the greasy food, if for nothing else but his future self’s liver and arteries, but man, he loved these burgers! A complete guilty pleasure, especially after a hard day in the computer lab with the teens. When some of them just continued to ignore warnings about bringing water bottles and placing them right by the keyboards, he felt sometimes he deserved a reward for not losing his temper and thus his job. There was just too much anxiety over wrecked electronics, especially when they were so expensive.
Plus, he was looking forward to an evening of not being here. Being in the Magic Realm sounded a lot better for the evening. Even if he wasn’t currently tracking anyone for a bounty, just walking around was nice enough. Plus, maybe he could take a small job while he was in, who knew? It was something to look forward to. First though, food. Greasy, warm, feel-good food. A triple patty burger with mushrooms and a large order of fries. Perfection.

Adelaide had had a particularly long and arduous day at work. Her boss had been a big dick and her coworker kept assuming he knew more than she did. Newsflash, he didn't. In fact, she knew more about cars than he did. He just didn't want to be shown up by a woman. She was used to it, but today it seemed to annoy her more. She wasn't sure why she was in such a foul mood, but she was. Now, she was tired but, mostly, she was hungry. Realistically, she should have just gone home and made something to eat. Her grocery shopping day was still two days away, though, and she had slim pickings at home. What she was really craving was a burger, and that was how she found herself at Easy Eats. At least, she told herself, it was cheap. That was how she justified it, anyway.
After she had ordered her food — a bacon cheeseburger combo — Addy waited slightly impatiently. Having just come from work, she was covered in grease and was in desperate need of a shower. She couldn't wait, honestly. She was going to eat, go home and shower, and then maybe, if she was awake enough, pop into the Magic Realm for some fun. She worked as a blacksmith there, but only on weekends. It was a good way to get money there to spend. Plus, she got to make some really cool things. Yeah, maybe she'd go into the Magic Realm and spend some money on some form of entertainment. Or maybe she'd just practice her fire magic.

Mattimeo's order was called, and he walked to the counter as a woman placed her order. He realized she was a player pretty quickly. There was just some sort of sense you got when you met them, and he paid attention to it. It was always a good opportunity to connect to people. He took his tray but waved at her. "Uh-I've seen you around" he said with a small grin. "You work at the car place, right?" looking at her more, he did kind of know her from around. "Do you...wanna sit together? I mean, I don't really know you, but talking together is better than sitting alone...plus I think we've some hobbies in common?"
He hesitated and raised a hand. "Definitely don't have to, I just figured-I'm Mattimeo. I work at the high school." He was also an idiot. "I'll just-be over there if you wanna sit..." He hurried back to his seat, annoyed with himself. He couldn't talk to people well, at all, he always did something stupid. He'd sounded like a creep.

Adelaide was standing beside the counter, somewhat lost in thought and waiting for her food. She was a little surprised when someone started talking to her. She glanced over at him, blinking as she processed what he said. "Ah, yes, I work the garage," she told him with a quick smile. He looked somewhat familiar to her, though only enough to be like yeah, he lives in Avalon. She didn't know much more about him, though. She squinted somewhat at him when he asked if she wanted to sit with him. That was... awfully forward of him. However, at the mention of hobbies, Addy finally realized what that feeling was inside her head. He had been in the Magic Realm.
She hadn't even been able to respond before he rambled on, telling her his name and that she didn't have to sit with him, but he'd be over in the other area. Honestly, everything had happened so fast that she wasn't entirely sure what was going on. When her name was called for her food, she grabbed the tray and turned around. Mattimeo was sitting at the spot he said he was. Shrugging inwardly to herself, she figured why not. She wanted to ask him about the Magic Realm anyway.
Addy made her way over to him and took the seat across from her. "My name's Addy," she told him, "so... about these hobbies."

Mattimeo was actually pretty surprised she'd sat down with him. He'd rambled and hadn't let her talk and been kind of weird. He'd given the offer still more as an after thought, just in case. Well, good thing he had, because just in case proved to be the case. She sat down across from him and introduced herself, and pressed about the 'hobbies' which. He'd been right. She had been in the Magic Realm. "Nice to meet you, Addy!" He said, and rubbed his neck. "Uh-sorry for getting excited. I don't talk to other 'players' much. But! hobbies. Okay." he took a breath and lowered his voice just slightly, as after all, people would probably assume they were talking about video games but you didn't need to broadcast nerd related topics in any situation. In his experience.
"So in the Magic Realm I'm a bounty hunter and sorcerer." he said with a shrug. "I got the disc maybe two years ago and have been doing pretty good in that area. I'm not fantastic by any means-not yet-but I'm not bad." he looked at her, curious. "What about you?"

Mattimeo seemed surprised when Addy sat down across from him. He had been pretty weird, so there had been a part of her that told her not to sit down with him. Still, he seemed pretty harmless. Addy was pretty sure that she could flick him and he'd go down. She gave a brief flash of a smile at his greeting — a habit from dealing with customers. "I don't either, it's okay," she told him. She honestly hadn't talked to any players before either. She generally kept to herself. Plus, it was all kind of new to her. She waited to see what else he would say.
When he said he was a bounty hunter and sorcerer, it was Addy's turn to be surprised. She supposed anyone could be anyone in the other realm. "I found mine really recently," she told him honestly as she shoved a fry into her mouth. She chewed, thinking about telling him what she was. Most people reacted pretty unkindly to what she was. Demons were apparently scary or whatever. She let out a breath when she swallowed, deciding she might as well go for it. What's the worst that could happen? He could run away from her? Wow, too bad, so sad. "I'm a blacksmith over there," which could be boring to some people, but to Addy was exciting. She made loads of cool weapons and stuff. "I'm also a, uh, demon."

Mattimeo nodded slowly as she told him it was okay. He'd just taken a bite of his burger and couldn't really reply, but he knew it wasn't really okay. He should have handled that better. He was a teacher for heaven's sake, he knew how to act around people. Theoretically. He smiled when she acted a little surprised at the bounty hunter thing. He was pretty sure all of his students would also be surprised their weird teacher was actually not that much of a wimp or anything, too. But that was in another world. Mattimeo was practically a different person from one world to the next, and he preferred it that way.
He perked at the 'blacksmith' bit. "Really? Nice! I'm always in need of new equipment, so maybe I can order some stuff from you-if that's alright. If you found yours fairly recently then you're still getting on your feet over there jobwise and stuff, right?" why not help out? he had the coin and he always needed replacements for whatever got damaged while doing a job. Mattimeo shrugged as he popped a fry in his mouth. Sure, demons were scary, and he'd gone after a few demons himself, but... "Don't worry. I don't think all demons are bad. Like not all humans are good. So you're a demon. I don't mind." and to hell with anyone who did mind.

"Well, if you ever find yourself in Segalona Marketplace, feel free to stop by Hammer and Tongs," Addy told him with a quick smile. She was lucky enough that her master had taken her in as an apprentice there. She had learned a lot from him and had come to make some really cool things — although, she would still call them amateurish. She also hoped to make enough money in that world to be able to afford her own place. Maybe once she did that, she'd spend more of her time in that world.
Adelaide was chewing on a fry when Mattimeo mentioned that he didn't mind her being a demon. Honestly, she almost choked on her fry as he said that. She felt it was so very rarely said or even thought of. She swallowed and took a sip of her drink to clear out her throat. "Ah, thanks," she managed after she did that, "it's not like it's something people choose, anyway. Don't know why it freaks people out so much, but what can you do?" She shrugged.

He grinned back when she gave him a quick smile. "I'll be sure to! Thanks! I am always needing some good supplies, and I've kind of just been amassing a lot of money for a while, I've got coin to spend. I try to save it for stuff that won't break too easily, ya know?" He was careful with his tools and weapons, but in his line of work in the magic realm, he often had a lot of wear and tear really quickly. Probably because he usually went after bigger targets before he was quite ready. But hey, he wasn't dead yet.
He shrugged when she practically choked, offering a smile. "Probably stigma. I mean, that's why people react to anyone over here, so it'd make sense that side too. He took a drink of his cola and considered things. "Can't do much but try to prove them wrong. 'S what I do, on this side." He shrugged a little.

If he truly had coin to spend, as he said he did, Addy wouldn't mind showing him some of the better equipment. She had been working on a few pieces that she thought perhaps might be right up his alley. She nodded along with him as he spoke, eating some more of her food. "I think I have a couple of pieces that you might like. I can set them aside next time I'm back there so that I can show them to you when you come," she told him. He had also said he was a bounty hunter, so she was sure they would work well for him in that regard. Some of them were enchanted, so that would be helpful, she was sure.
"Yeah, I guess that's probably why," she agreed after a moment. He was right, there wasn't much to do but try to prove them wrong. Still, she hated trying to do that. She hated trying to prove herself. She shouldn't have to try to prove herself. It just sucked. Plus, any time she made one "wrong" step, it was proof for them that they were right along. "True," she finally said, "but it sucks all the same."
